NEW SITE REVIEW: LOUD.com

Monday, October 29, 2007

One of the First Hip-Hop sites to ever hit the Internet has recently been relaunched & From what ive heard, they mean Business. LOUD.com is an Internet social community strickly founded on the basis of the Hip-Hop culture.

The site includes many familiar characteristics such as: Profiles, Blogs, News Feeds, Forums and Chat Rooms. In Addition they've launched some concepts of thier own like a Digital Music store where aspiring artist can download beats for around 99 cents each, and produce the tracks live on the site. Right now they have a Promotion going on in association with Dj Khaled to find the next Hip-Hop superstar. 100 Grand and a recording contract with Universal Records are also up for grabs.

Overall, I'll rate the site a generous 6.5 from a 1 to 10 scale. They've simply not lived up to the hype. The overall concept of a The Hip-Hop social community is great however they've seemed to miss the whole point of WEB 2.0. Among all other things the site has a terrible design that takes the average computer and eternity to load and the navigation is worse then that of myspace.com. As said before they've simply not lived up to the hype. The Internet has a great number of heavy hitter Hip-Hop sites up right now and and LOUD simply does not seem to have what it takes to compete. I hope they prove me wrong.

NEW ALBUM REVIEW: DJ Khaled - We The Best

Sunday, October 28, 2007
Yea I know, This albums bean out for a min now. But, Ive been sketical to buying it , in that I've never bought a dj khaled album before. I mean the dude doesn't rap or sing. However, I'd never know unless i tried it. So heres the review.

Since ive loaded the album to my ipod a couple days ago, thats all I've been listening to; over and over again. The Tracks in listed order are:

1. Intro (We The Best): Its basically a lyrical Intro by DJ Khaled and Rick Ross drops a middle verse.

2. The Movement Skit: The movement skit is the scene of a female television news reporter stating that Dj Khaled is on the run. (Featured at beginning of "We takin Over" video.)

3. We Takin Over: The first single off the album Featuring: DJ Khaled. T.I., Akon, Birdman, Lil Wayne, Fat Joe And Rick Ross

4. Brown Paper Bag: Was the third single off the album Ft. DJ Khaled, Young Jeezy, Juelz Santana, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Lil Wayne and Dre. This song was on the end of the "Im So Hood Video" but only included a verse from Jeezy and the Chorus by Dre.

5. Im So Hood: The second single off the album, featuring: DJ Khaled, T-Pain, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross and Plies. We wrote and post on this joint earlier that also featured the video itself.

6. Before The Solution: This is one of my fav joints off this album. It features: DJ Khaled, Beanie Sigel and Pooh Bear. Beanie Killed that joint with the Roc-A-Fella controversy.

7. Im From The Ghetto: Probably the most melo joint on the album. It features: DJ Khaled, The Game, Jadakiss, Trick Daddy and Dre. In love this joint. Its reminds you to never forget were you came from and to be proud of what you got.

8. Hit Them Up: Its Seems that every joint on this album was meant to represent a regional style of Hip-Hop. If so this obviouisly was meant to represent those Choped and Screwed Texas boys. The track Features: DJ Khaled, Bun B. and Paul Walll.

9. "S" On My Chest: Cash Mony Killed this joint. The joint features: DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne and Birdman.

10. B**** Im From Dade County: This should have been one of the top two singles off the album its simply that hot. As the name already suggest this joints basically the athem of the Dade County Region. The track features: DJ Khaled, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, Trina, Dre, Flo Rida, Brisco and C-Ride.

11. The Originators: This Joints basically a a tribute to Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. Describing their influence and tributes to this thing that we call Hip-Hop.

12. New York: As "Im So Hood" was the anthem to all the hoods across the world, New York is the anthem for what else, NEW YORK. The Track is simply sick, nothing else need to be said. It features; DJ Khaled, Jadakiss, Ja Rule and Fat Joe.

Overall, This is one of the best albums out right now period. To make it simple this album is basically a compelation of the Hip-Hop industry. Don't buy it because you like Dj Khaled, but get it because you love Hip-Hop, Because simply thats what your gona get.

NEW MUSIC :: The Dream ft. Fabulous- Shawty's A 10

This joint is by a dude named "Terius Youngdell Nash " or better known by his stage name, The Dream. After a lil research, I've found out that this dudes been out for a minute as a songwriter. His hits include Rihannas' "Umbrella" and J.Holidays' "Bed". In addition hes written dozens of other songs for artist such as Chris Brown, B2K, 3lw, Nivia, and Mya.

The Joint "Shawtys a 10", is the first single of of his debut Album, "Love me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter"; Which is due to drop sometime this year. Rumor has it that the entire album was completed within nine days. However, that's unconfirmed.

As fare as I'm concerned though, this Song is fire. His voice is very unique, to say the least. So It definitely brings some refreshing flava to the R&B scene right now. I'm looking forward to hearing the next singles off the album & we'll definitely keep you posted on anything new

P.S. Shout out to all my Fine *ss ladies out there!

Ja WTF were you thinking !?

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

If you have not heard Ja Rule has a Freestyle out right now over 50's I Get Money Track. If the track is indeed a freestyle and not a pre-written rhyme then its not bad. But Ja WTF were you thinking?! 50 tore your *ss the first time. Take a pause and rebuild your tattered career. Yea, Kanye wounded fifty on 9/11 but the kids not dead. I'm just afraid to see how fifty's camp responds to this.

I'm not going to lie. I like to see great battles, so I hope Ja makes it back up to compete wit fifty. As long as it doesn't get physical Competition can only bring greater music. However, this was definitly not the time for Ja to freestyle this diss track. Its not a good look right now

The Roc Lifestyle

Rocawear and Southpole, two of hiphops most successfull fashion brands, recently lost bids to naming the New Jersey Net's Continental Airlines Arena. Instead, Izod won the naming rights and will be naming the Arena, The Izod Center.

Damn! Aint that a b*tch. I was looking forward to it being named The Rocawear Center or something like that. But whatever.
In related news:
Iconix Brand, which bought Rocawear from the Roc-A-Fella empire last year for 204mil has launched a community portal called "Rocawear Lifestyle". The Rocawear Lifestyle site is basically an online community to promote the Rocawear brand and to better interact with their consumers.

Kanye UniverseCity

I've been hearing alot of hype lately about this site called "Kanye UniverseCity". So naturally I had to take my Curious *ss over there, & Overall here's the rundown. The site is basically like every other artist fan site except with a genius twist. the theme is that of a city so to navigate you got to click on the buildings in the foreground. It has all the traditional aspects of an artist fan site like a:

Music page
Appearance page
Fan Store
Video page
Message board
Fan Club
Street Team
Press Room

The most Interesting part is that along with everything else it has a blog that is "supposed to be" written by Kanye himself. The blog is edited about five times a day and naturally chronicles kanye's public life. In addition the site design matches his most recent album release, Graduation. It has the futuristic Asian vibe to it that was in the stronger video so overall I'll give it a b+.

The Jewry Designer

Monday, October 8, 2007
Music Producer, Heavy weight Rapper, and now Jewry Designer! Yes Sir, It has been confirmed that Kanye is currently designing a Jewry collection with Takashi Murakami. No release date has yet been confirmed. But its very likely that it will be sometime in 08. Not much detail has been released about the collection but he did take time to let Woman's Wear Daily know that:
They'll be more accessible. They wont be all diamonds.

I'm looking forward to seeing what exactly he comes out with. If nothing else I expect the collection to be fly. Because..well.. that's what Kanye does.

American Ganster

Sunday, October 7, 2007
Its Official, Jay-z will drop an album on November 6th of this year, entitled "American Ganster". The first single's a joint called "Blue Magic". The joint was produced by Pharell and he drops a line on the hook. The Rhyme that Jay drops on the track is fire. But Overall, Blue Magic should not have been the 1st single off the album. The joint is hot, dont get me wrong but its not first single material. Traditionally, the 1st single is suposed to be the best & If Blue Magic is the best then thats not saying much about the rest of the album. Hopefully this is a bad decision from Roc-A-Fella headquarters and the album lives up to the hype.

Roc-A-Fella Released this joint on September 20th. But if you haven't heard it yet AOL has it on their music network

Welcome to the Good Life

Saturday, October 6, 2007

Once again Kanye proves why he's one of the heavy hitters of hip-hop. As the third single of his junior album "Graduation", "Welcome to The Good life" featuring T-Pain is destined to be a chart topper. Personally I love this song and the video's simply the sh*t. Kanye's music is like no other artist in hip-hop right now. He brings MUSIC, you know what I mean? A lot of artist these days simply bring a tune that makes you shake ya *ss with no relevant message behind the lyrics. However, Take a sec and check this joint out and tell me there's not a message in there that you can relate too. Contrary to popular belief, Hip-Hop is not dead. Artist like Common, Kanye, Talib Kwali and countless others repeatedly prove so. This track is simply one other hit to add to list.

Pop Bottles

"Pop Bottles", the first single from Birdmans' upcoming album "Five Star General" , Is simply fire. The track features of course Lil Wayne and D-Blocks frontman Jadakiss. No official date has been released yet for the drop of the album, but we do know that it will be dropping sometime in October and as Birdman mentioned on 106 & Park a while back, It will be produced by Lil Wayne. Birdman Is known for hot singles but knowing that Lil Wayne is listed as the producer definitly places "Five Star General" as a possible billboard chart topper.
